Ah Singapore. After living in Thailand for 2 years now I have heard wonderful tales about a land known as Singapore. They have shoes in your size there. You can buy cloths that will fit you there. They have Dr. Pepper and Carl's Jr. there. It is clean and does not smell there. The list goes on and on. My first impression was that it was cooler then expected, probably due to that storm that was in the area at the time. And it was quiet. We got off the bus and picked a direction to go figuring we would hit a subway line sooner or later and after asking around we did. The subway system there is nice and clean, and in many ways similar to the one in Thailand. We arrived at the house of a friends friend and made our introductions and got ready or the next day of fun at Universal Studio's Singapore.
Well that was a long and painful day of walking, but man was it a blast. The whole day was spent at Universal and we went on every ride that was open. We explored all the different areas, saw all the shows we could and almost walked out of the Monster Rock show. Man was that bad, and yes some people did walk out. We had fun though and once we made it out at the end of the day we got some snacks and headed back to the friends house. Much of the rest of the time we spent sightseeing, hunting down food we had read about or shopping. The sightseeing was nice, but we had heard so much about the food and shopping that I was really disappointed. The food was OK, but in my opinion better back in Thailand, though I did enjoy the Carl's Jr. and TGIF food. We never did find any Dr. Pepper, and the only thing I wanted to buy, a pair of shoes not sold in my size in Thailand, was completely out of stock due to some huge sale the country was just finishing. Jen was happy though. They had just about everything that she wanted and her only complaint was that we were backpacking and she didn't have enough room to buy everything she wanted. I did end up with a pair of Shrek ears though and that is something.
